The cut stone shed that housed Good Hope farm equipment 200 years ago is today a cozy three-bedroom home, sturdily built of cut stone walls 18" to 30" thick, hewn timber beams and blue mahoe plank floors. But don`t be mislead by the name. This "cottage" also features state-of-the-art remote control air conditioning in all bedrooms, modern plumbing and electricity and a full kitchen. Dramatically renovated in 2001, River Cottage is the marriage of two worlds: 18th Century ambience and contemporary comfort.

River Cottage is a ten-minute walk or one-minute drive down the valley from the Good Hope Great House. A short walk leads to the stables and children's playground with swing set and sliding board.

Throughout the cottage are original antiques ... carved mahogany beds, buffets and tables from Chippenham Park Great House in St. Ann's Parish. The eclectic design includes unique artistic details complementing the warmth of its antique furnishings ... from the fanciful handmade lampshades and hammered tin wall art to accessories of wrought iron and stone fired by the resident potter. Even the towel rods are art.

Perhaps the most relaxing space of all is the comfortable porch trimmed in dwarf bamboo. A walk of 40 feet across the grassy lawn leads to a stairway to the river 100 feet down a wooded path. Here is an other-world fantasy of burbling green water for wonderful swimming and a picnic area for jerk, fish, chicken or lobster. Play in the sunny lagoon or relax in the shade of the bamboo forest.

If you want to relax to the sounds of birds and a running river ... a time to put your feet up and be still ... all in a remarkable setting ... it is here.

Fifteen minutes down the mountain from Good Hope is its own beautiful private, sugary white sand beach on 1.5 acres of pristine undeveloped property. The adjacent property is 22 acres of more long, lovely private beach (not a hotel or noisy club).

The exquisite swimming water is protected by a live reef and is among the most clear and buoyant water on the island. Its beach house is a uniquely charming new stone cottage with commercial kitchen, bathrooms, bar, nap room, upper deck and an outdoor shower folly fed by a hollow bamboo. Beach towels and chaises are provided. Water toys, snorkels and kayaks are complimentary. Jet skis can be rented.

The Good Hope cooks will pack picnic baskets of delicious lunches and drinks for you to take with you (5 different menu selections each day). Some or all of you are invited to enjoy this dream of an idyllic Caribbean beach as often as you wish!

It is easily accessible, the city boasts a first class international airport, as well as a port used by many interntaional cruise lines.

Montego Bay is home to some of the most colourful and exquisite Villa's in the Carribean, which are complemented by an abundance of transport facilities and an unparralleled array of amenities and attractions, all of which contribute to Montego Bay's vibrant holiday culture. As well as dazzling waters, Montego bay also offers history, culture and wildlife. The Rocklands Feeding station is a must for bird lovers, located only minutes from Montego Bay.
