On one of Anguilla's greatest beaches sits one of its greatest homes: Beachside Villa, a 10,000 square foot luxury villa with swimming pool and tennis court on sloped land that goes directly to the western end of Shoal Bay. It is one of the very few houses on all of Shoal Bay whose property takes you right to the sand.

Built on a hill, the house sits about 40 feet above the water, maximizing views and breezes. Yet—as you sit on its spacious decks—you are a short walk from the magnificence of Shoal Bay, its blues and greens, great for walking or snorkelling (enter the sea right in front of the house for some of the finest snorkelling you will ever experience).

Go through the lush gardens, past the tennis court, to the water; turn right, and over 1½ miles of beach lies before you. Swimming, snorkelling, and leisurely walks are all right outside the gate that insures your privacy (and keeps out the goats).

The villa is open, spacious, and built to accommodate large groups efficiently and luxuriously. Its center is a 900 square foot 'great room'. This open plan kitchen, living room, and dining area is terraced below the grand entrance foyer and overlooks Shoal Bay's greens, blues, and whites. On one side of this room are sliding glass doors that open onto an expansive covered 600 square foot deck, above the swimming pool, tennis court, and sea.

The living room features a full home theater (wall-mounted flat screen tv with satellite and cable, along with DVD and iPod dock) surrounded by plush, brightly upholstered Thai furniture. Perfect for reading (and napping).

The interior dining area accommodates more people than the villa holds (with dishes and place settings for many more). Or, enjoy your meals on the spacious deck, just a few feet away.

The great room has its own granite-topped wet bar with refrigerator and ice-maker. Mix your favorite rum drink while listening to reggae music as cooling breezes caress you. All of your senses will be engaged!

The kitchen is for people who love to cook and love to eat: over 30 feet of “L-shaped” granite counters hold two double-bowl sinks, dishwasher, and cabinets, all beneath soaring bleached wood ceilings. A separate island has a five-burner cook top and oven. Professional equipment includes Cuisinart food processor; electric hand-mixer; blender; coffee makers; and all manner of pots, pans, work bowls, knives, whisks, spatulas…everything for the avid chef or the first one up to make coffee.

The great room is bounded on two sides by a beautiful covered deck that is really an extension of the interior. These 600 square feet—with comfortable furniture—offer commanding views of the 50x15 foot fresh water pool, the tennis court, and all of Shoal Bay, to the north, east and west.

The second floor of the main house features two air-conditioned bedrooms with their own baths. The easterly one is over 400 square feet, exclusive of its travertine and tile open-air shower. The dressing area features a two-sink marble vanity and ample closet space. Both second floor bedrooms open to a covered deck that wraps around the north and east sides of the house.

The views—from sunrise to sunset—are breath-taking and will stay with you always. Over 260 square feet, under a 15 foot high wooden ceiling, with soaring sliding glass doors overlooking the sea from its covered deck. Marble vanity, wall mounted hair dryer and shower in its own bath. Air-conditioning and remote controlled ceiling fan enhances the ample breezes.

The Villa's West Wing is a 2-storey structure attached to the main house's west side (hence "West Wing") at the pool deck level. The second storey comprises a kitchenette and two bedrooms (260 square feet each), with adjoining private bathrooms. The first floor likewise has two bedrooms (280 square feet each) with adjoining private bathrooms. All bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and have individual marble vanity sinks with wall-mounted hair-dryers.

You will be amazed at the thoughtfulness of the amenities: individual closets and many conveniently located hooks for bathing suits, the luxurious towels, and your clothes. On both floors the bedrooms open, via large sliding doors, onto covered decks over-looking the tennis court and Shoal Bay. The "backyard" is Shoal Bay East, one of the Caribbean's most magnificent beaches. The villa is on an acre, where the talc sands of Shoal Bay end—you walk the entire beach, but almost no one walks by you.

Within the gate (whose primary purpose is to keep out the goats) are all manner of tropical gardens: oleander, bougainvillea, allamanda, palm trees, and local grasses surround the house, tennis court and beach path; planters adorn the pool deck as well.

The hosue gives you the "best of both worlds": the magnificent views and cooling breezes of being on a hill yet a short walk directly to the sea and sand. The beach path goes through lush vegetation and its gate is not visible to the occasional passer-by. Your privacy is assured.

The Omnicourt (rubberized undercoating makes it very easy on the feet) tennis court sits directly above the beach. The views are breath-taking. If you love tennis and beautiful surroundings, this is your paradise.

The 50'x15' fresh water pool is perfect for lap swimming or a refreshing dip after snorkelling or walking the beach. Its expansive deck (covered in non-slip travertine) is terraced just beneath the Great Room and its covered veranda, so that the 'sun worshippers' and 'shade-sitters' can be together. From this perspective you overlook the sea, to the east, north, and west.

There are many people who have never been to Anguilla. There are very few people who have been to Anguilla only once. Learn why one of its most popular songs is, "I must come back to Anguilla."

Anguilla, BWI is an English independent territory in the northeast corner of the Caribbean. Its greatest asset is its 11,000 industrious, conscientious, fun-loving, and welcoming people. With tourism as their largest industry, Anguillians are committed to showing you their beautiful island with pride and hospitality.

English is the official and spoken language. American currency is accepted everywhere, and most establishments accept all major credit cards.

The island is long and thin, creating an endless shoreline and over 30 of the world's most beautiful beaches. Many are over 1½ miles long; not one has a high-rise. Some are entirely unoccupied; some have beach bars, visually pleasing hotels, and spectacular villas. All beaches are public and entirely uncrowded.

The waters off of these beaches are equally spectacular. Anguilla is a snorkeler's paradise. Go in directly off of the beach, or take one of the many dive boats—for snorkeling or scuba.

Weather is warm (highs in the high 80's; lows in the low 70's) but always breezy. The winds come from the east and keep you cool during the day. Blue skies with puffy clouds are the norm. Brief showers reinvigorate the foliage.

Anguilla is in that portion of the Caribbean known as the "Leewards", 6 miles north of Saint Martin and less than 200 miles east of Puerto Rico. The primary air carrier into Anguilla's Wallblake Airport is American Eagle (from San Juan), which coordinates with American Airline flights into and out of the United States and Canada. Also, many carriers provide jet service into nearby Saint Martin. The short trip from St. Martin to Anguilla is made by small charter flight or a ferry ride (a wonderful way to see Anguilla for the first time).

Safety, security, great beaches, fabulous restaurants, hospitable people, local bands, colorful wooden boats, and many churches all await you. Come to Anguilla and experience "tranquility wrapped in blue".

The villa is designed to be your "home away from home", so if you need it, we probably have it. It has whatever a house ought to have, so rather than list what we do provide, here is what you will need:
- Your clothing
- Snorkelling equipment (may be rented locally)
- Toiletries
- Laptop computer (high speed wireless internet access)

The villa does not require air-conditioning because of the brisk, cooling breezes. Nonetheless, because we know that some people "must have it", all of the bedrooms are fully air-conditioned. While you are welcome to use it, we predict that—once you experience the sensory delight of sleeping with open (screened) windows—you will reach for your light quilts, not the A/C switch.
